"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."

Rekindling the Spirit of Neighborliness
Communities serve as pillars of resilience and ecological balance. While the U.S. may glorify individualism, strong, interconnected neighborhoods enrich our lives both mentally and environmentally. Communities foster well-being, reduce waste, and support eco-friendly living.
The Isolated March to Adulthood
As we navigate the complexities of adulthood, real-world connections often take a back seat. Social media platforms, although convenient, serve as pale imitations of community interaction. They connect us virtually but contribute to a wasteful digital economy and can exacerbate social isolation.
The Backyard Void
Owning a home with a spacious yard brings its own slice of the American dream, yet the "Howdy ho, neighbor" moments seem to be a thing of the past. This realization isn't unique to me or to South St. Louis City. Many crave real-world community, and we're addressing this by crafting an application with a dual purpose.
Introducing Tasket: Be Neighborly, Be Green
Tasket serves as a digital meeting place for neighbors to share errands and tasks, reducing the carbon footprint of individual trips. Send out a Tasket visible only to your neighborhood. As neighbors add their own errands, a collective, eco-friendly effort materializes.
A Slow Brew of Community Building
Unlike on-demand services like Postmates or Grubhub, Tasket functions at the speed of community. Tasks remain open, offering a break from the frenetic pace of life, allowing time for neighbors to contribute and fostering a sense of collective responsibility.
The Road Ahead
Our alpha version is undergoing rigorous testing. We are committed to enhancing user experience and incorporating feedback for a more sustainable and community-oriented future.
